Just like in Game 1, the Islanders didn't perform well in the first amount of Friday's matchup contrary to the Penguins, and they rapidly fell behind 2-0 before going into the first intermission down 3-1. Facing a possible 2-0 series shortage, this small Islanders group raised their performance and dominated the Penguins in the 2nd time to score two targets and tie the game going in to the final 20 minutes. When Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was struggling to put the puck in his or her own net and handle a shot off the boards, Nyc secured its 4-3 lead with extraordinary defense and determination in the last 10 minutes of regulation. This was an enormous win for a new staff that will be high in confidence heading in to Game 3 at the Nassau Coliseum on Sunday. The Islanders showed lots of poise and composure in the second period, that will be developed more scoring chances compared to Penguins and once they grabbed impetus of the game. Not only did they outshoot (42-33) and outwork the Penguins within the last 40 minutes of this game, the Islanders also restricted their problems and didn't crumble under the playoff force that many of the players on the roster had never experienced prior to this collection. For the Islanders to own any possibility of taking off a historic upset of the Penguins, they needed to win one or more win sport on the way to persuade themselves that Pittsburgh is really a beatable team. Both of these were completed on Friday, and all the stress is on Crosby and the Penguins as the line shifts to Long Island for Game 3, even though they are still the favorites.
