Ancient Michigan Tennis Business Destroyed By Fire

A Michigan generator that has maufactured wood tennis rakes and wood flag stays since the 1870s was destroyed the 2009 Thursday (March 28, 2013) by fire. Cheesebrough Corporation, in Freeport, Michigan was the oldest manufacturing unit in the state. A description of the organization from their website: Cheesebrough has been shipping tough outside things around the globe in the last three decades, at once by the boxcar and now in much smaller boxes of cardboard. Though a reeda of our former selves, we appreciate using our artistic bent within our art, in hope we will add beauty and pleasure to our lives and yours.A Each of our few customers is very important to us and the continuing operation of this previous American company.A If we, or something we create, gives purpose to disappoint you, please call and allow us to ensure it is right. Unlike the standard tennis market companies that compete in providing aprice pointa products manufactured in far away places, we're a relic of the days when American craftsmanship and quality was the jealousy of the nations.A We run much the same today as when the work started in the early 1860as, using simple models to arough ina the fundamental designs of our products, and handwork for closing shaping and finishing. It is a somewhat tedious system by contemporary standards, and fewer seem prepared to live under its quality demands.A It does allow us to supply services and products that can be named crafted maybe not manufactured, and that by American craftsmen. Iam very nearly certain that Iave seen their products and services at Treetopsa Tradition in Gaylord. I was satisfied with them at the time and you will see several photographs here. More on the fire here.

Manhattan project Liga: Celta Vigo 2-2 FC Barcelona: Fit Evaluation - Barca Blaugranes (weblog)

A recap of Barcelona's 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo. I guess the FIFA Virus would catch as much as us at some stage... Hamilton Academical Barcelona were held to a shock 2-2 bring at the Balaidos today, as a header from Borja OubiAa secured a point for Abel Resinoas Celta Vigo. The hosts had a target disallowed before they ultimately took the lead on 38 minutes through Natxo Insa. Barcelona struck right back through Cristian Tello, and also took the lead themselves in the second-half courtesy of yet another target from Lionel Messi. But, they'd performed defectively through the match and a point was about around they deserved. Celta Barcelona Possession 30 % 70% Overall Images 8 8 Images on Target 3 3 Complete Accuracy 69% 85% Fouls 15 12 Offsides 6 5 Yellow Cards 4 3 Red Cards 0 0 The Blaugrana fielded a "weakened" beginning XI, as Marc Bartra, Martin Montoya, Alex Song, Thiago AlcAntara and Cristian Tello were all given starts. But, these were joined by Alexis SAnchez, Cesc FAbregas, Dani Alves, Gerard PiquA; oh and an Argentine striker named Lionel Messi. Even with turning the squad, Barcelona should have been confident ahead of tonightas match against Celta Vigo; could they manage to secure the three things and briefly extend their lead at the top of La Liga? Barcelona started slowly; without Sergio Busquets, Xavi HernAndez and AndrAs Iniesta, the Blaugrana were struggling to hold possession, and despite having the likes of Thiago and FAbregas in midfield, BarAa were also struggling to generate chances. Celta Vigo on one other hand were pressing intelligently a' not losing their energy by needlessly chasing the ball all over the area, but exerting pressure at the right time for you to obtain possession. If it wasnat for the linesmanas flag, Celta could have taken the lead too a Augusto Fernandez applied the conclusion only to see his energy precisely ruled out. Probably that scare could kick-start Barcelonaas match? Perhaps not likely; the errors continued and Celta capitalised a first forcing a out of Jose Manuel Pinto and then (deservedly) taking the lead on 38 minutes through Natxo Insa. Atrocious protecting from Gerard PiquA made space for Fabian Orellana; reducing inside from the right-hand side of the Barcelona penalty region, the Chilean scuffed his shot and the ball fairly fortunately fell to Natxo Insa who finished past Jose Pinto to put Celta 1-0 up. Sure, there clearly was some luck active in the goal, but Celta deserved that fortunate break; Barcelona hadnat turned up. Luckily, Celta weren't forward for long; Cristian Tello levelled the results on the stroke of half-time with a superb end after yet another guide from Lionel Messi. Maybe not quite happy with his record-breaking tally of goals, Messi has now offered 17 aids for his teammates a the second-highest total on the Barcelona lineup a while Tello has now notched six goals this year, just one single less than Pedro who has enjoyed an astonishing 1724 minutes more than his compatriot... The urge was resisted by jordi Roura to produce a change at the period, although the temptation to present David Villa or AndrAs Iniesta must have been high. At present, Barcelona only werenat getting the job done. By his or her own high standards, Lionel Messi was having a game, as was Alexis SAnchez; while Cesc Fabreagas was completely private a' routinely resurfacing to disagree with the referee. Surely a big change was forthcoming, or were BarAa content to seize an individual point against relegation-threatened opposition? He was quickly joined by David Villa who exchanged Alexis SAnchez and he may have had to hold back until following the hour-mark, but AndrAs Iniesta did enter the area of play in the second-half, replacing Thiago at the heart of midfield on 65 minutes. Celta replied with a change of their own a former Bayern Munich midfielder Danijel Pranjic was flourished for Enrique delaware Lucas a' and the match appeared to planning for a draw. Bartra couldnat capitalise on Cesc FAbregasa spot and Barcelona had registered just two photographs on target in the entire match. Fortunately for them, they still had Lionel Messi. The Argentine had scored in his last eighteen Manhattan project Liga shows (some sort of history) and if he could score tonight, it would complete the "cycle". Initially, it looked like he had set Cristian Tello up for a at goal with yet another excellent through ball, but Tello knew the angle was too tight for a at goal, so he sent the ball into the location and Messi was available to touch the ball into the trunk of the net a' it may have taken 73 minutes, but BarAa were ultimately forward. Messias streak could carry on and the three things were protected a' werenat they? Celta werenat prepared to give up without a a unlike Barcelona, they want to fight tooth and nail from here on in just to secure their place in the department, and finally that was enough to win a share of the spoils. Barcelona demonstrably had one eye on Paris Saint-Germain and consequently, the drive wasnat actually there; yet another defensive mistake was made and this time around it was Borja OubiAa who took advantage. With significantly less than five full minutes left to perform, Celta had clawed their long ago in to the link and earned themselves an invaluable position in the battle for survival. Next up, Barcelona happen to be France to battle PSG, before hosting Real Mallorca at the Camp Nou. Till then, Visca el BarAa! Follow us on Twitter

13 Limited Edition Products for the Masters

Whatever your feelings about the industry's trend towards producing as much limited edition gear as possible (sort of an oxymoron), the reality is Limited Edition gear is all the rage in golf today.

Sometimes it's severely limited (check out Wilson Staff below), sometimes it's very limited (Fujikura, Bettinardi), and sometimes it's barely limited (Cobra, Kentwool). And of course, there are those situations where we don't exactly know how limited it is, but you know…take their word for it…it's really limited.

At no time during the golf season does the LE engine rev like it does in the lead-up to The Masters. Rules and whatnot dictate that all this new and mostly cool Masters gear can't actually be called "Masters" Gear, so the golf companies come up creative ways to explain the sudden influx of green (and sometimes yellow) Limited (did we mention it's limited) gear each and every April.

Whatever they call it…"Green", "Augusta", "Highway 20″ (my personal favorite), or "Season Opener", the message is clear. This stuff is to celebrate The Masters…and it's Limited.

We've assembled a collection of 13 (actually it's 15 if you count the TaylorMade stuff individually) Limited Edition Masters Products for the 2013 season. Feel free to tell us what you like, and if you're so inclined, tell us what you hate too.

It's almost time for the first Major of the year and COBRA Golf is celebrating by bringing golfers the AMP CELL  Limited Edition – Green Driver. An AMP CELLTM head complete with MyFlyTM, SmartPadTM, E9 Face Technology™ and Advanced Material Placement, is paired with a Diamana D+ shaft, LE headcover, LE wrench and, of course, is being released in 'Season Opener Green.'

The limited edition Major-inspired D-100 Irons from Wilson Staff reflect the exact same world-class technology used in the highly reviewed D-100 Irons that recently launched in January 2013. The heads and Matrix Studio 6.1 shafts are the same as the standard D-100 Iron components, except the colors have been altered to green and yellow to reflect a Major-inspired design. The green Lamkin R.E.L. 3GEN grip perfectly complements the colors used in the rest of the club. A total of eight Major-inspired Augusta D-100 Irons sets have been manufactured and no more will ever be made.

The Bettinardi Limited Edition BB0 DASS Highway 20 Invitational has honeycomb face, plumbers neck and a tour blast finish. The sole is engraved with the Bettinardi Highway 20 sign and dancing azaleas. The Hex B logo is engraved on the face and Bettinardi is engraved in the pocket.

adizero tour – A season opener limited edition colorway (island green) will be available at retail on 4/1.  Specifically engineered to include only what's essential to perform by utilizing ultra-light materials that are proprietary to adidas.  The result is the lightest, most comfortable and best performing ten-cleated tour golf shoe that adidas golf has ever created.

Every year the tournament that Tour players look forward to the most is the Masters.  It's such a special event and venue and something that each player will remember for the rest of their lives. Odyssey wanted to give them something special, something that no one else can get.  Not even our CEO, Chip Brewer, or Chris Koske, Global Director of the Odyssey business got one of these. That's special! These are not for sale at all…tour only.

TaylorMade Golf is celebrating the first Major Championship ("Season Opener") of the year. Ten years ago, TaylorMade began trying to pay greater homage to the Majors with our Tour Staff professionals with commemorative bags, hats and logos, created for each individual championship. The theme for the Majors this year is "10 Years of Tradition". For Tour Staff only, TaylorMade has created 2013 "Season Opener" staff bags, hat pins (new this year), and headcovers, featuring the 2013 "Season Opener" commemorative logo .

All of Callaway's internal designers took a stab at designing the LE bag and the team then took the best elements of these submissions to create the bag that Callaway Pros' caddies will carry during tournament play.

Combining groundbreaking innovation with longstanding tradition, Nike Golf has created the NIKE FREE Inspired TW '13 Limited Edition footwear in time for the first major championship of the season.

Add a ton of Cobra-PUMA style (and protection) to any metalwood with this sweet Monoline Cap Headcover. The same headcover that Rickie Fowler will use in the 2013 Masters.

KENTWOOL – the 170-year-old, family-owned American textile innovator – announces that it will commemorate staff player Bubba Watson's inaugural major championship victory with the return of a limited-edition Tour Profile performance sock boasting a distinctive green base color highlighted by yellow heel and toe patterns with red brand accents.

Hamilton Academical Barcelona: Vilanovas Reunite Might Spark an Excellent Title Function...

After two months of therapy in Nyc for a neck cancer, Barcelona coachATito Vilanova is finally back Spain. Vilanovaas health has been on many peopleas brain as a cancer relapse was suffered by the coach after he had to get a saliva gland cancer removed in November 2011. While Vilanova was absent, Jordi Roura took care of the staff. Roura, Vilanovaas associate, was in constant contact with the coach about decision making. During Barcelona matches, Vilanova communicated with the teamas coaches via mobile phoneAfrom New York City. During Vilanovaas absence the group experienced a rough patch once they had to face strong teams within a short period of time. From February 20th to March second, the group played four times dropping on threeAoccasions. Two of those suits were againstAarch-rivals Real Madrid, who beat Barcelona in two consecutively; once for the Spanish Cup, which eliminated Barcelona from the opposition and another time in the group. Through that stretch, Barcelona also dropped 2-0 to AC Milan in Italy in the Champions League Round of 16. Their only victory through the stretch was in the home against an always hard Sevilla group. Barcelonaas history during Tito Vilanovaas lack was 8 victories, 3 deficits, and 2 ties. Arguably the most notable game was Barcelonaas impressive comeback in the Champions League second knee against AC Milan, winning 4-0 to be eligible for a the quarterfinals. Vilanovaas reunite must only put fire to a currently hot Barcelona who are seeking to become European kings yet again and Manhunter Liga winners. Cristian Tello thinks that Jordi Roura has done a spectacular work stepping in when Tito was out recovering, but, he is extremely pleased with Vilanovaas return. As they confront Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions LeagueAquarterfinals the next few activities for the Catalans will be season-defining. Vilanova might not be able to count with Pedro for the upcoming games since the Spain international experienced aAsmallAtear in his calf during Spainas World Cup qualifying match against France. He's as a result of miss 10 games, meaning he will maybe not play this weekend. He was already planning to miss the first PSG installation because of yellow card accumulation.

Premier League Duo Face Tough Competition To Land Lyon Starlet ...

Tottenham and Newcastle face some stiff competition over the summer if they want to land Lyon's Samuel Umtiti, TalkSport reports.

The Premier League duo are both keen on bringing the 19-year-old to England, but they could be set to lose out as AC Milan are also reportedly taking an interest.

Umtiti broke into the Lyon squad last season and has continued to repay the faith shown in him by coach, Remi Garde.

The French under-21 international caught Tottenham's eye when the two sides met in the Europa League earlier this season when he hit a superb 20-yard wonder strike at White Heat Lane.

And Newcastle will be interested in bringing him to Tyneside to match the other signings from across the Channel that Alan Pardew has made recently. Newcastle scouts watched him in action this week when the French under-20 side faced Denmark.

However, any deal the two were hoping to strike with Lyon could be complicated by AC Milan who are rumoured to be stepping up their interest as they continue to replace some of the club's older stars with fresher talent.

Umtiti, who operates mainly as a left-back or centre-back, has made 20 appearances so far this season, scoring twice and is valued at around £5 million.

Manchester City vs Newcastle: 5 Key Battles to Watch in Their EPL Encounter - Bleacher Report

Even if they do manage nine victories between now and the end of the season, it's very unlikely to be enough to hang on to their Premier League title and stop Manchester United waltzing off down Stretford with the trophy.

Eight points from a possible 45 is a record that can only be beaten by Reading—and we all know where they're heading.

As ever, though, football has a way of cackling uncontrollably in the face of the best-laid plans and City will still need to be careful.

That was always going to be a difficult feat to repeat this season, and sure enough, the goals have been a little less frequent and Cisse's form a little more bumpy.

That said, he remains Newcastle's go-to guy, and with three goals in his last five games, his form, if not ablaze, is at least starting to smoulder.

But it has not stopped the arrows coming the way of Joe Hart and his colleague at the back—especially during their Champions League group campaign in which they failed to win a single game.

You would think chances would be at a premium for Newcastle at The Etihad Stadium, but if City's minds are not pin-sharp around Cisse, one opportunity is all he might need.

With Sergio Aguero's efficacy affected by injury and Carlos Tevez not at his consistent best, City have not been as potent.

The Bosnian has had trouble, at times, accepting his place in the rotation policy at the club, but has made the most of his opportunities when they have come along.

However, he remains a frustrating and perplexing player too, and his performance at Everton was a throwback to the bad old days.

He is without a goal in four games in total, although two for his country in their World Cup qualifier win over Greece on Friday will have got the juices flowing again.

Stephen Taylor, Newcastle's king pin now Fabricio Coloccini is out injured, will wonder which Dezko is going to turn up. He will hope it's the bad one.

The two Ivorians are good mates off the field, but pleasantries will be suspended as Tiote does his best to spoil, disrupt and knock Toure off his rhythm.

Toure is the only player in the division to make more than 1,000 passes during home matches and only Arsenal's Mikel Arteta can come close matching his average of nearly 86 per game (via whoscored.com).

Along similar lines to the Toure vs Tiote matchup, who comes out on top in the scrap between City's defensive shield in midfield and Newcastle's thrusting buck will have a heavy influence on the result.

He has needed the help of a defensive midfield partner, be it Javi Garcia, Jack Rodwell (when fit) or even Yaya Toure.

Barry and Garcia did an effective job at retaining the ball against Everton, but question marks were raised over their urgency in closing down the space when they were not in possession.

That is not likely to be such an issue at home, where Newcastle will not see the ball much and will be content to hit on the break when they can.

If they are not disciplined, Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko has already shown what a threat he can be driving deep from midfield.

He has hit the ground running since arriving on Tyneside in January from Toulouse, and his two goals in Newcastle's win against Chelsea in February 2013 announced him as a serious player.

City's last outing in the Premier League was that woeful effort against Everton which all but ended their hopes of hanging onto their title.

It has been City's mental frailty, as well as lack of goals, that has undermined their season and left boss Roberto Mancini turning on his players at times.

Their only loss at home was to Manchester United in December 2012 and the fact that Newcastle have not won there since September 2000 should mean City erase their nightmare at Goodison immediately.

Taking over the world! City plan more football schools after new centre ... - Daily Mail

Manchester City have underlined their plans for international development by revealing details of the growth of their football school in Abu Dhabi.

The Premier League champions' coaching centre in the home emirate of their owners has doubled in size since it opened a year ago and they now boast it to be the biggest in the region.

The MCFC School of Football caters for 550 boys and girls aged between five and 18 and is run by five coaches on weekday evenings and Saturdays.

The success of the centre, based at Zayed Sports City, could see it become the blueprint for further international projects.

A statement read: 'The success of the MCFC School of Football in Abu Dhabi is fast becoming the benchmark for our coaching excellence internationally, with the club currently exploring other destinations around the world for future expansions.'

Coaching at the school takes the form of 10-week courses, all of which follow the same training techniques and philosophies of the first team.

Midfielder Javi Garcia has visited the centre during the international break over the past week along with former player, and current football development executive, Patrick Vieira.

Vieira said: 'Every time I visit the School of Football, I am amazed at the growing number of kids wanting to learn how to play the City way and how much talent they have at such a young age.

'It's so important to have the correct coaching at a young age, as these early principles and values can ultimately end up driving, guiding and defining you as both a player, and as a person.

'Watching the kids develop new football and interpersonal skills on and off pitch is what the City School of Football is all about.'

City were taken over by Sheikh Mansour's Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008 and their huge investment brought accelerated progress culminating in last year's title win.

Most strikingly a new multi-million pound training complex and academy adjacent to the Etihad Stadium will open next year.

Included in the overall plans for the site were local regeneration initiatives. Land has been donated for a new sixth-form college and public leisure centre to be built next to the complex.

Manchester City Set To Join Race For Fiorentina Striker Stevan ...

The Montenegrin striker has been in fine form for his club this season scoring twelve goals in 24 appearances for the Serie A side.

Jovetic's performances have been attracting the attention of a number of top European sides and reports in recent weeks have strongly linked the player with a move to Arsenal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is known to be in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer after seeing Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud endure disappointing debut seasons following their arrival last summer.

Neither player has managed to convincingly replace Dutch star Robin Van Persie and Wenger is keen to bring in a regular goal scorer to improve his side's chances of securing a top four finish.

It has been suggested that Arsenal are willing to match Fiorentina's £28 million valuation of the player but any potential move could now be scuppered by the emergence of Manchester City's interest in the player.

City boss, Roberto Mancini, is keen to reshape his squad this summer after seeing his side lose significant ground to Manchester United in the race for the Champions League.

While Arsenal are ready to loosen the purse strings having paid off the debt they accumulated from building the Emirates Stadium, they remain unlikely to be able to match the financial package offered by billionaire-owned Manchester City.

Newcastle United's Massadio Haidara Looking For Quick Recovery - Sky Tyne and Wear

Injured Newcastle United defender Massadio Haidara is yet to set a date for his comeback but hopes it will be 'sooner rather than later'.

Haidara is currently sidelined with severe bruising to his thigh, sustained after a challenge from Callum McManaman in Newcastle United's 2-1 defeat at Wigan Athletic earlier this month.

Reports suggest the French left-back, a January arrival from Nancy, could make his comeback in Newcastle's UEFA Europa League quarter-final at Benfica on April 4th.

But Haidara, 20, is not putting a date on his return, saying only that he hopes to be back in action soon, telling the Chronicle:

"In the meantime I will work hard here. And of course I will be supporting the team, which I do all the time if I am playing or not."

Last Updated: Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 10:32 UK The protecting German winners are 20 points behind leaders Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, but have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. "I do not think we're able to already have played much better in the Champions League," he told FIFA.com. "We were eradicated from the [German] glass after losing to Bayern, but that's baseball. "In the Bundesliga we're well on course to qualify for the Champions League again. The actual fact we're to date off top area is frustrating, but I've to acknowledge that Bayern have been very good in 2010 while we have dropped way too many points." Gregg Evans remark piece: Albion owe a to Odemwingie - Birmingham Mail

Gregg Evans says the Baggies romance has ended for Peter Odemwingie despite him doing more for the club than most Chris Odemwingie It's this kind of sad sight to start to see the person who brought so much pleasure to Albion fans quickly turn from hero to Public Enemy No.1. The Baggiesa most famous achievements in recent years have been generally down to Peter Odemwingie a' the man Albion supporters today love to hate. Iam maybe not going to argue with any supporter for venting their anger at the Nigerian for the way he's conducted himself in recent years. But what I'll say is, it is still important to remember the nice times that the aold Petera made. And without sounding like Iam reading off the once-adored strikeras Twitter feed, there have been plenty of them. Not only did he single-handedly hold Albion in the Premier League in 2010-11 a' the long-term aftereffect of these goals continues to be paying off today. Odemwingie was the man who served the club lose its ayo-yoa draw a' his back-to-back conditions of double figures built the system for the success they're now experiencing. Then there were the area derbies. In nine games against Wolves, Villa and Blues mixed, the 31-year-old has hit seven objectives. The standard very early in his Albion career by inspiring his new side to a 3-1 victory Blues just his third Hawthorns appearance was set by him. Odemwingie then helped Albion simply take early steps towards becoming kings of the West Midlands. More than a quarter of a hundred years had passed with out a group conquer Villa until April 30, 2011, when that man again proved critical. But it was his hat-trick against Wolves last year that's undoubtedly his greatest ever time in a and white shirt. Three objectives gained the match ball to him in a 5-1 glory, which found radical consequences follow for their bitter rivals. Albion supporters must think back again to that day when giving their next abusive 140-character concept in his course. Itas true he's brought distress to the club where he was once idolised. And, yes, he does deserve some of the criticism. But I could list a type of players more than Halfords Lane who have done nothing for Albion though get clapped on their go back to The Hawthorns. Unfortunately, his relationship with West Bromwich is finished. Whether Albion can find another hero like him as time goes by is just a different matter.

WATCH: U.S. soccer team fights for a win in driving snow, freezing ...

The United States defied the difficulties of driving snow to get their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign back on track with a 1-0 triumph over Costa Rica.

In a match put in jeopardy by blizzard conditions, which saw the grounds crew in a constant battle to keep the pitch clear enough for play, Clint Dempsey leapt on a deflection in front of the Costa Rica goal in the 16th minute and nudged the ball in.

It proved all the United States needed in a contest that had been billed a "must-win" by US coach Jurgen Klinsmann, after his team fell 2-1 at Honduras last month in their opening match in the six-nation final-round of qualifying in North and Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF).

The three points pushed the USA to second in the table behind Honduras, who erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 2-2 draw with Mexico on Friday.

Dempsey's goal — after Jozy Altidore's shot deflected off Roy Miller — was his 12th in World Cup qualifying, tying him with Landon Donovan for the most in qualifying for the United States.

It stood up, although Costa Rica had several chances — including two free kicks from just outside the US penalty area — and an apparent goal in the 70th minute disallowed for offside.

That was after Salvadoran referee Joel Aguilar briefly stopped the action in the 55th minute, to the apparent dismay of players from both teams, before allowing the match to conclude.

The wintry weather in Denver was a far cry from the intense heat in San Pedro Sula, where second-half strikes from Carlo Costly and Jerry Bengtson saw Honduras rally for a stunning draw with Mexico.

Costly's header in the 77th minute and Bengtson's 80th-minute blast — off the rebound from his own saved penalty attempt — cancelled out a pair of goals from Javier Hernandez.

He doubled Mexico's lead in the 54th, eluding the defenders in front of the goal to slot home a set-piece delivery from Carlos Salcido.

Guillermo Ochoa dived to his right for the save, but pushed the ball straight back to Bengtson who belted the equaliser past the helpless keeper.

Regional powerhouse Mexico, meanwhile, remain in search of a first win after two matches, having been held to a goalless draw when hosting Jamaica last month.

Luis Henriquez salvaged a point for the Panamanians in Kingston with his equaliser in the 65th minute. Marvin Elliott had put hosts Jamaica in front with his header in the 22nd minute.

The top three teams from the region advance to the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, while the fourth place team plays off against top Oceania team New Zealand for a berth.

Blowing the whistle on football's debt problem: Liverpool, Fulham, West Ham... - The Independent

Britainas two state-backed banks are helping fund the Premier Leagueas thriving earnings and transfer fees. Equally Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Lloyds act as brokers to debt-ridden football clubs in the utmost effective flight. And they proved to The Independent that they take part in lending to the others. While neither comes close to market-leader Barclays, which as sponsor of the Premier League could be expected to be seriously involved, or HSBC, the news headlines remains set to cause conflict with campaigners. Since they are successfully using state funds to greatly help when all banks are facing criticism for failing continually to do enough to provide to Britainas legion of credit-starved small businesses fund the Premier League at any given time that's. RBS, 81 % held by the taxpayer, acts as banker to both Liverpool and Fulham Hamilton Academical. Based on the most recent editor of Deloitteas baseball fund record, Liverpool had net cash shown at A9.6m but A202m of other debt bringing its total aneta debt to A192m. The team, owned by former derivatives investor John Henryas Fenway Sports Group, which also owns the Boston Red Sox baseball team, created a pre tax profit of A5m in 2011 but lost A19m prior to that. The reportas figures just increase to the end of 2011 because the current version is still in preparation, with not their 2012 accounts having be yet filed by all clubs. Meanwhile Lloyds Banking Group acts as banker to West Ham through its Bank of Scotland subsidiary purchased included in the merger with HBoS. Deloitteas record shows the East London club had bank loans and overdrafts shown at A37.6m plus A4m of other debt making a total of A41m. It made a pre tax lack of A18.6m in the 2011 financial year. Lloyds is 40 % owned by the taxpayer. Throughout the financial meltdown RBS received A45bn of direct state support and countless huge amounts of pounds in other support, including insuring its bad debt and aliquiditya support when capital markets were effectively closed. Lloyds received A20bn along with the indirect help. Brokers privately say that lending to football clubs shows an extremely risky activity, with some groups paying player wages that come close to as well as exceed return before any other charges such as for example ground maintenance and transfer costs are taken into account. aThe problem is not just the risk,a said one source. aYou could experience a significant problem with supporters when you have to call in loans.a A lender associated with football money told The Independent: aIad somewhat we didnat provide to football clubs, nevertheless the higher-ups wonat I want to stop.a They confessed to financing other groups borrowings, while both banks insisted that they weren't the only financiers of any of the three clubsa debt. They declined to express how many groups or how much, despite their status as state-backed people supported by taxpayer resources. Lloyds released a statement saying: aWe supply a array of facilities to sports clubs, including some football clubs. In making financing decisions we treat as an individual organization each one, rather than using a broad brush approach to the industry as a whole. We can not discuss the details of our exposure to the field or even to individual clubs.a An RBS source said the company lent to a of clubsa but refused to give further details. Friend Mervyn King, the governor of the Financial Institution of England, last week wrote to entrepreneur Mike Benson expressing his disappointment and sympathy over Mr Bensonas inability to secure finance for a brand new flow truck for his business. Simon Chouffot, spokesman for the Robin Hood Tax campaign, said the banks should be concentrating on putting money in to the economy to simply help it recover. He said: banks will be thanked by aWhile football fans for keeping their groups profitable, everybody could celebrate if banks place the same effort into supporting the remaining portion of the economy.a

Sol Campbell defends Rio Ferdinand and backs Manchester United defender to... - The Independent

Sol Campbell has guarded Rio Ferdinand's determination to withdraw from the England team, and feels the Manchester United opponent still has an international future. Ferdinand, 34, was contained in Roy Hodgson's group for the Planet Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro, but withdrew to check out a pre-planned exercise routine built to help him manage his long-standing straight back dilemmas. Ferdinand was extensively criticised for his withdrawal, and he received further flak when he flew to Doha to become a pundit on Al Jazeera's coverage of the San Marino installation. But former England, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle defense Campbell has jumped to the defense of his former team-mate. He said: "I know what Rio is certainly going through since a lot does be taken by international football out of you. "If you've a way of playing, a regime and a regime then playing for your country takes a much more energy. "If you're in a routine and happy with that and then you're seeking to play still another game it may be demanding on the body. "Playing for England can put a lot of demands on your own body. And you then have to get back and play for your team. "If you've maybe not put that in to your routine and no-one has told you that they are considering putting you in a month before then it's hard to put it in." And Campbell does not believe the present furore represents the end of Ferdinand's England career. "He (Rio) said he would love to be engaged in the next one," he added. "It is a important moment for England and Manchester United so it's a difficult for him to choose. It is actual. Global basketball and the travelling is challenging. "People need certainly to work it out and speak. I think it was only a surprise to Rio since he was considering, 'Well, I have not got a chance and then all of a with a few accidents he had a chance.' It absolutely was surprising." Campbell was speaking after seeing Wales train in front of their World Cup qualifier with Croatia, included in completing his teaching badges. He said: "Watching Wales practice is all the main learning process. "I am doing my N licence and I complete around June time and then I will start my A badge. "I will know in 3 years time if instruction is something for me personally in the long-term."

IMPORTANT BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) a' For the final few games, the other frustrating Novak Djokovic from across the internet wore a lavender shirt, a sweatband, black shoes with lime trim and a blue hat. Tommy Haas won ugly, becoming the oldest man to defeat a No. 1-ranked person in 30 years. Eight days shy of his 35th birthday, visit veteran Haas beat three-time winner Novak Djokovic in the fourth round of the Sony Open, 6-2, 6-4. The angry Tuesday night snapped Djokovic's 14-match winning streak at Key Biscayne, where he won the tournament yesteryear couple of years. "This is crazy," Haas said. "Playing against some body like Novak and being released on the top currently of my career, it is unbelievable." As for Haas' outfit: "Yeah, I'm quite slow I think as it pertains to color matching," he explained. "Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror before I venture out and I am like, 'Geez, that which was I thinking'? I guess if I perhaps had a clothing deal it would be different." The top-ranked Djokovic has lost two of his previous four fits after winning 22 in a row, like the Australian Open for his sixth Grand Slam title. "All the credit to Tommy," Djokovic said. "He enjoyed an excellent fit and he was the higher person, no question about it." Haas increased to 2-14 against No. 1-ranked people. His only other win came against Andre Agassi in 1999. The oldest player in the leading 50, Haas is making his 13th appearance at Key Biscayne and advanced the tournament's quarterfinals for the very first time. His challenger Wednesday is going to be No. 11 Gilles Simon, who rallied past No. 7 Janko Tipsarevic, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Mike Querrey lasted only 50 minutes in the last round and lost to Tomas Berdych, 6-1, 6-1. Querrey was playing his first match because the No. 1 American on his removal, and the ATP Tour implies that for the first time, the 28-year-old contest may have no U.S. men in the quarterfinals. The shutout may be the indication of declining fortunes for American golf. "I think you might say it is been somewhat of typical the last number of years," Querrey said. "It isn't like we had people in the week in, week out." National effects on the women's side have already been better lately, thanks mainly to No. 1-ranked Serena Williams. The five-time Key Biscayne winner high level to Thursday's semifinals and tied the women's record for career victories in the tournament by beating No. 5-seeded Li Na 6-3, 7-6 (5). Williams' opponent in the semifinals Thursday will undoubtedly be protecting success Agnieszka Radwanska, who hit a shot behind her back for a winner on the way to a win over No. 30 Kirsten Flipkens, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. With temperatures in the 50s for the final fit of the evening, Djokovic appeared out of sorts from the start. Throughout his second service game he became annoyed at supporters yelling as he was going to serve. "It is the worst fit I've played in an extended time," Djokovic said. "I only did not feel well on the court. Conditions were actually much, much not the same as what I've performed in previous matches. Balls didn't jump at all. He's a very level images. The variety was used by him very well. It absolutely was cold, and I simply didn't locate a better solution to come back." Consecutive forehand errors were hit by djokovic to lose serve and fall behind 3-2, the beginning of a where Haas won six consecutive games. Spectacular winners were hit three by the German to separate again for a 5-2 guide, and Djokovic double-faulted to lose serve once more in the opening game of the next set. Djokovic broke for the only time to reach 3-all, but lost his function again. The victory was closed out by haas with a forehand champion, then provided a hot change at the web with a thoughtful Djokovic, who gave a to the group as the court was left by him. His age wasn't looked by haas right away, and not because he played with his hat on backward. He played patiently from the standard, combining the rate of his images to win a series of lengthy rallies, and winners were repeatedly whacked by him when Djokovic tried to force the matter by coming forward. "I am only really happy and pleased that tonight, against this kind of great person who has been dominating the sport the past year or two, I really took advantageous asset of the opportunities I got," Haas said. "I think I enjoyed acutely well." While Williams continues to take over the WTA Tour, no American man has reached the past five Grand Slam quarterfinals. The view wasn't helped by the retirement of Andy Roddick, whose 2003 U.S. Open championship could be the most recent significant name by way of a U.S. male. Querrey was playing his first tournament as the top American, and he handled his best showing in ten looks at Key Biscayne, assisted by a walkover in the next round. His forehand and serve let him down against Berdych, however. The 6-foot-6 Querrey came into contest minute on the tour in aces in 2010, but he had only four against Berdych, and produced only 39 percent of his first acts. "Just one particular bad days," Querrey said. "The more you miss, the tougher it extends to obtain the ball in. It just kept getting worse." No. 2 Andy Murray, the success in 2009 and runner-up last year, beat No. 16 Andreas Seppi 6-2, 6-4. His challenger Wednesday is going to be No. 9 Marin Cilic, who beat No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-5, 7-6 (4). No. 8 Richard Gasquet hit 17 aces, including three in the ultimate tiebreaker, defeated No. 10 Nicolas Almagro 6-7 (3), 7-5, 7-6 (3). Gasquet will next experience No. 4 Berdych. No. 3 David Ferrer beat No. 13 Kei Nishikori 6-4, 6-2. Ferrer's challenger Wednesday is going to be unseeded Jurgen Melzer, who rallied past Albert Ramos, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Arsenal and Manchester City are set to battle it out to signal Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic come july 1st, according to talkSPORT. The Montenegrin striker looks England today in the World Cup qualifying group stage, and the report claims City and Arsenal are generally willing to bring him to the Premier League at the end of the year. The 23-year-old has been valued at A28m by his Serie 'A' team, and the Gunners are reportedly prepared to match that fee. The document also promises Arsenal are willing to bump up Jovetic's present A65,000-a-week wage to A90,000-a-week if he wants to join the club. The Arsenal panel are willing to sanction a of spending after watching north London opponents Tottenham Hotspur leapfrog them in the Premier League table. Winners League qualification for next year's tournament might be essential, with the Gunners currently four items adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham. Chelsea inhabit third on 55 points, while Manchester City are not yet completely clear on 59 points. After an eight-year trophy drought, Arsene Wenger is supposedly prepared to invest big on a and Jovetic has been recognized as one of his top goals. But he is set to manage stiff competition from Premier League competitors Manchester City. March Madness 2013 Bracket: Predicting East Region's Sweet 16 Matchups

The Sweet 16 of the 2013 NCAA tournament is but a few days away, and there have been lots of theatrics in the ancient tournament this year. The East region's top seedsa'Indiana, Miami (FL), Marquette and Syracusea'all won nail-biters in the round of 32 to advance. Miami (FL) and Marquette will tip items off on Thursday in the East area, while Indiana and Syracuse will follow. Here's a look at how I start to see the matchups playing out. All statsAviaAESPN.comAandATeamRankings.com. Miami-FL (2) compared to. Marquette (3) Two things had me picking Miami (FL) to produce it to the Ultimate Four prior to the 2013 NCAA tournament began. First, the Hurricanes have a gun in sophomore point guard Shane Larkin who light it up from the field and could works the half-court crime well. He submitted five and 17 items helps against Illinois in the round of 32. 2nd, the Hurricanes rank 37th in competitors' field-goal percentage Third, they've been rebounding the ball far better lately (their rebounding price over the last three gamesAwould rank them 17th in the region over the span of the season). Marquette barely defeated Davidson and Butler in its first two activities of the NCAA tournament, but I see its work ending in the Sweet 16. The Golden Eagles' challenges on offense over the past two games worry me. They had stretches during the regular season where they were flat on offense, therefore it does not surprise me that they would challenge from the subject again. Davidson and Butler ranked 86th and 111th respectively in competitors' field-goal percentage this year. What goes on if the Golden Eagles face a better defensive group in the Hurricanes? Prediction: Miami (FL) developments Indiana (1) vs. Syracuse (4) Syracuse has the defense to destroy Indiana, but I fear that the Orange don't have the offense to eventually arise victorious against the Hoosiers in the Sweet 16. Syracuse ranks second in competitors' field-goal proportion and seventh in defensive effectiveness this season. Their defense is no joke. It surely depends on if Indiana represents to its potential offensivelya'the Hoosiers shot 42 percent against Temple in the round of 32, but star freshman Victor Oladipo once more walked up down the stretch, finishing with 16 points on 7-of-12 firing. Indiana also offers a substantial benefit on the glass. The Hoosiers rank seventh in unpleasant rebounding rate this year, as the Orange rank 252nd. Barring a collapse from Indiana (which can be surely possible provided the Hoosiers' inconsistency this season), I see the Hoosiers moving forward. 5 Defining Moments of the 2012-13 Season For - Arsenal World

As the English Premier League draws to its conclusion, the fate of several clubs could well be decided on the last day of the season. While the title would be heading back to Old Trafford, the fight for the remaining three Champions League spots is gaining pace, with nine points covering four teams. For Arsenal, an exit from the Champions League would be disastrous and manager, Arsene Wenger was quick to acknowledge that reality. ?Qualifying for the Champions League is massive for us. We want to be there and I don?t envisage anything else.?

Like previous seasons, Arsenal has struggled with inconsistent performances. Their inability to start or finish games has seen the Gunners drop several points this season. Whatever the outcome, the Gunners will look back to 5 defining moments of the season.

2. QPR (Home; 27-10-2012): After a turbulent few weeks for the Gunners, a win against QPR was just what the doctor ordered. What should have been a comfortable victory against the league strugglers was anything but easy. The controversial goal from Arteta, which could have been deemed offside, was enough to secure victory and three points for the Gunners. Result 1-0; Points 3.

3. Fulham (Home; 10-11-2012): After starting the game in emphatic fashion, the Gunners found themselves with a two goal cushion after just 23 minutes. However, they lost the initiative and with the game hanging in the balance, were awarded a penalty. Arteta failed to convert the opportunity (saved well by Schwarzer) and Arsenal was dealt a massive blow. Two points dropped which could still come back to haunt them. Result 3-3; Points 1.

4. Liverpool (Home; 30-09-2013): With another sloppy start to the game the Gunners found themselves with a mountain to climb and claw back a two goal deficit. However, within a span of three minutes, goals from Giroud and Walcott drew the Gunners level. Several chances were squandered as the game ended in a stalemate. A point gained or two dropped will only be known at the end of the season. Result 2-2; Points 1.

5. Sunderland (Away 09-02-2013): Playing Sunderland away is never an easy task, yet the Gunners found themselves in the lead. Jenkinson?s careless tackles saw him earning red, leaving Arsenal in a spot of bother. For over 30 minutes the Gunners defended valiantly and, world class saves from Szczesny ensured all three points for Arsenal. Result 1-0; Points 1.

With nine games to go this season, the Gunners have to play each game like a cup final and no opponent should be taken lightly. Finishing in a Champions League spot, would help the manager, look forward to yet another season competing with Europe?s elite. Failure could be detrimental for the club.

MLS Saturday Wrap: Goals, Recaps and Key Stats from MLS Weekend

The Columbus crew capitalized on two set-piece opportunities to earn three points on the road against an Eastern Conference foe, D.C. United.

Crew defender Josh Williams gave Columbus an early lead with a strong header.  His goal was quickly answered from a very long-range effort from United's debutant, Rafael.

The Brazilian's introduction to MLS is surely one he will never forget, a brilliant hit from well beyond the 18-yard box.

Columbus Crew midfielder Ben Speas notched the game-winner with a powerful, laces-led strike from just outside the 18-yard box.  Speas' hit was as true as it gets.  Just an absolutely screamer.

No answer came from United.  Head coach Ben Olsen will rue D.C.'s ineffectiveness in the final third despite maintaining just under 60 percent of possession.

The shot discrepancy tells the story here.  The home side only managed nine total shots (five on target).  The Crew were far better at unleashing efforts toward goal.  They cracked 17 total and found the frame nine times, which was quite the workload for D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid.

Both teams are off from MLS play next week.  The following week, D.C. United are on the road against Sporting Kansas City, and the Columbus Crew will host the Philadelphia Union.

Javier Hernandez: Also great for Manchester United's seat? - GiveMeFootball.com

This season has looked to be considered a bittersweet seesaw sport for the former Guadalajara poacher. Despite having an extraordinary goal-to-minutes-played ratio, the Mexican currently is actually in the bottom of the step with Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck all being chosen over him. So what makes the ball player to Sir Alex Ferguson counter who's so effective along with his goal return? Javier Hernandez gifts a stark juxtaposes when compared to his hit colleagues. Adam Rooney likes to conduct the band and drop strong as a pseudo playmaker. Van Persie has that beautiful touch that allows him to create the others in to play. Welbeck likes to extend sometimes to complement the wingers. Javier Hernandez meanwhile is really a totally different deal. He is maybe not someone who'll monitor back a whole lot or someone who'll perform the sniperas move. Instead he is a poacher and a - somebody who may remain nearby the goalmouth sniffing chances. His limited work charge allows him to be always a far more deadly presence in the field where his instincts support United snatch vital points. Here is the reason he has been utilized in a super-sub position - having that ability to spurt moments of brilliance. Not being involved heavily in the build-up play allows him to look for pockets of space and assess the opponentas defence line as evident in his present against Chelsea. His effectiveness as a super-sub has permitted comebacks to be mounted by Manchester United against Newcastle and Aston Villa. Hernandezas share has been vastly underrated this season and Ferguson knows how important he's for the team. As a good single chance overlooked will raise eyebrows in the critic box but also for him to keep as a penalty box killer creating a career, he must be consistent together with his concluding. Endowed with agonizing speed, Hernandez could add another dimension to his play by drifting from to the wings and whipping in crosses or allowing the wingers and full backs some added amount of independence. For all your goals he's, Hernandez may have quickly found himself in the beginning XI of any other Premier League club. However the variety of excellent strikers Manchester United have at their disposal has choked any path of opportunity. Should he choose to keep, Hernandez will see no insufficient suitors. Nevertheless, neither the gamer nor the director shows any willingness to part ways with one another. For Manchester United, this may only be described as a positive thing. Along with his recent understanding they can etch his name in to the Manchester United tradition just how Ole Gunner Solskjaer did but Hernandez will no doubt wish to rise above that. Manchester City star in swap deal with Real Madrid - GiveMeFootball.com

Sergio Aguero could be involved in a swap deal that would see Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain arrive at the Manchester City.

Aguero was their hero for the 2011/12 season and his injury-time winner against QPR on the final day of the season will go down in Premier League history.

This has not put off long term admirers Real Madrid, who have been rumoured to be ready to make a move for Aguero in the summer.  It seems that they are also willing to give City a replacement in their front line to get their man.

Having played for city rivals Atletico, Aguero has already lived in the Spanish capital and a return could be on the cards. Having spent around £35million to bring Aguero to the Premier League, City will not part with one of their prized assets easily.  But this season has seen Aguero struggle.  He has had injury problems that has kept him out of the City side, as they have continued to fall behind rivals Manchester United.

And when he is present, he has not been as worrying for defenders as he was last season. Although, you cannot blame this on Aguero alone, as many City players have not lived up to the hype they created last season.

Joe Hart has come under criticism for some of his goalkeeping, and playmaker David Silva has been less-prolific in assisting the front line than last season. And the absence of Vincent Kompany since January has been another major headache for manager Roberto Mancini, who sees himself starring at a 15 point gap between them and United.

But should he want to leave, City will need a replacement, and are not short of the money to spend on another attacker. A swap deal would suit both clubs as Aguero's arrival at Madrid would surely spell the end for either Higuain or Benzema.  They are both superb strikers and either could do well at City.  And with them both aged at 25, they are merely a year old than Aguero and would bring some invaluable Champions League experience along with them as well.

Aguero has been linked to Madrid on a number of occasions, and it seems now they feel will be the right time to test City's resolve.

With options such as Benzema and Higuain a possibility to come the other way, City would not lose out on attacking options, something they cannot afford to do after selling Balotelli.

Touch upon Adams 2013 Very Hybrid LS Assessment by daveo

If one were to ask what club has improved the game the most in the last decade, I really believe the most commonly received answer will be the hybrid. Many golfers battle with extended irons, and the introduction of the cross and its progress to the various types that are now actually available actually has changed that. One of the most associated titles in regards to compounds is Adams Golf. Their state to be the a#1 hybrida on Tour is not only poignant, but true. There are herds of people that claim by Adams and their hybrids, but entering into 2013 there was a bit of mystery surrounding Adams due to their acquisition by TaylorMade Golf.A When the 2013 Super Hybrid LS came in to review I was fascinated to see what precisely had changed, if anything more. From the Organization EASY TO HITaON VISIT. There are numerous reasons Adams compounds have been the #1 cross played on the PGA Tour since 2008. The no 1 reason is amazing performance. The # 2 reason is that theyare better to attack that any of others. Professionals like an easy task to attack stuff, youall like it also. We added the bells and whistles on the Super LS Hybrid so that you can modify it to your specifications, hit it low, hit it high, fold it just about to happen. Whatever opportunity you need, it gives. Click each image for larger image Looks I obtained the 19A LS with the aim of the review. Letas get it out of the way quickly here a' yes, it's most certainly white. Gone is the silver finish that Adams forced within their most recent round of hybrids (a finish that I personally liked) and in is the clear TaylorMade impact. The team head itself includes a matte white color scheme with the addition of the much discussed aSPEEDLINEa crown design in moderate grey. I was extremely worried about the design to arrive, but when the club went down at target I didnat have a second thought about them. The graphics are simple enough they arenat distracting. In fact, when combined with contrast of the white topline, dark experience, and speed position, I felt like they truly became one more alignment tool for me. The presence of the pinnacle is comparable to last yearas XTD type of compounds with an inferior overall size that is certainly not as afairway-likea as some others. Furthermore, the face area on the LS is what I'd call avintage Adamsa, with a more obvious asquarea and slightly taller profile iron-like look to it. The only of the hybrid is really as clear when I might expect out of an organization that truly sees R&D. The VST position on the only is full of rubber composite that keeps dust from filling in and helps it be quite simple to completely clean. In addition, the user is enabled by the LS to alter the weight in the sole for swing-weight and appropriate functions. Overall, it is an extremely nicely put together package. Length The LS Super Hybrid is used having an incredibly attractive Mitsubishi Kuro Kage 80 hybrid base at an overall total period of 41 inches. I was supplied with the S-Flex for assessment. As good as Adams has always been with R&D within their membership minds, I think they've been just like good about base collection (some thing their new owners should take note of) and that one is not any exception. I was provided by the Kuro Kage with enough weight to not feel enjoy it was affecting length, but nonetheless provided a remarkably stable feel through transition and contact. I experienced nothing of the vaunted ashaft shuddera or feeling of turning on effect within my time with the LS. Most impressive was the truth that the shaft released the ball fast and high while being immune to ballooning. The ball arrived gentle and easy, making keeping vegetables a non-issue, as well as. I came away excessively impressed with the canal coupling for this one. Feel and Sound I might be at my most particular in regards to compounds, when considering feel and sound, outside of putters. I wish to hear a good sound that's more iron-like than a hollow and echoing photo. The LS Super Hybrid gave down precisely what I love to listen to from an acoustics viewpoint. Upon contact with the ball, the clear feedback was a great acracka that was very pleasant to my ears. Immediate feedback through both the noise and my arms allowed me to differentiate between misses (heel, bottom, high, low) and pure strikes. There is no diversion or unpleasantness, only the strong sound and experience that the ball is up and off of the experience in a hurry. Sound in my experience truly is in, and sense this case congratulations by Adams in the LS. Performance Obviously, all of the color, whistles, and bells are good, however it all precipitates to performance. I place the LS Super Hybrid through its paces off the fairway, the tee, and the difficult. After several times and variety sessions, the claims of length were certainly copied well. I was blown away in every situations on more than one event by the LS, but especially off the tee with strong and large photographs that I can only shake my head at. Impressive distance was seen by me off the deck as well and the ease of use there is what Iave arrived at expect out of most compounds. The profile of the LS allowed me to use it out of some pretty solid lies with small grabbing on the club head through the influence zone. I think, the LS is the more demanding of the two Adams produces this season (LS and S), and is apparently geared more towards the aplayerasa range of use. That said, it is not in the slightest too demanding, particularly compared to some of the older Adams hybrid models. I got away very satisfied with what I found out of the LS from a performance stand point. Final Thoughts To the level, the Adams LS Super Hybrid is what I know expect from the company known for hybrids, only with a fresh paint job. As crucial as I was about the design and color, I donat even notice them when I put the club down at address. I think that truth is a to the performance Iave seen from the team in all of the circumstances. I know that all golf equipment are extremely particular and what suits one celebrities eye (or ear for that matter) wonat match another, but I think anyone in the market for a cross in 2010 should certainly have a closer go through the Adams line. It must be mentioned that the LS Super Hybrid is available in with an MSRP of 299.99, which could surely take the wind out of some sails. However, you do know what to expect from a quality and R&D perspective from Adams. After all, compounds are something they've typically done very well for a very long time now. Manchester United & Liverpool face Serie A competition for Colombian striker - GiveMeFootball.com

Manchester United and Liverpool will have to fight off interest from AC Milan if they want to land transfer target Jackson Martinez.

According to talkSPORT, both Old Trafford and Anfield scouts have been watching the Porto star and eyed him as possible addition to their respective strike forces.

Now Sir Alex Ferguson and Brendan Rodgers look as though they will have to battle the Italian giants for Martinez's signature.

Ferguson has a formidable front line in the form of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez has been linked with a switch away from Old Trafford in the summer and the Porto striker could be seen as a direct replacement, should the Mexican leave.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's star man Luis Suarez is another player that has been linked with a move as the Reds look likely to miss out on Champions League qualification once more.

The report claims Martinez has a buyout clause of €40million but questions whether any of the teams would be willing to meet that.

However, should all of AC Milan, Manchester United and Liverpool decide they want to bid for the 26-year-old, the resulting bidding war could push the price high.

Martinez has been a revelation since he joined Porto from Mexican side Jaguares, scoring 23 goals in 23 league games.

Stevan Jovetic to Arsenal or Manchester City? - International Business Times

Montenegro's star-man Stevan Jovetic has dropped hints about his wish to play in the Premier League, further igniting the desires of Premier-League's "big boys" Arsenal and Man City.

Currently playing for Fiorentina, the skilled striker has forced 23 goals in his last 12 games, this recent run of form more than anything has pushed him to the top of Wenger and Mancini's summer wish list. Short from actually asking to move to England, the Serie-A star could not do much more to let the Premier League know he's interested in a transfer.

Jovetic has a £25 million buy-out clause, and in a recent interview said:  "It sure is nice when you are interesting big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City.

Despite the routing Montenegro received from England in last Friday's world cup-qualifier, Jovetic himself had a fairly good game (when the ball got to his feet) and his club performance is what caught the Premier League's eye.

It is no secret however that if it does come down to Mancini and Wenger, then the italian will lose no sleep over that bidding war.

Stoke 0-0 West Brom: Potters poor form continues after disappointing home draw - Goal.com America

A 0-0 stalemate at the Britannia helped Stoke to climb up the table as it kept its first home clean sheet since November, although there is still pressure mounting on manager Tony Pulis.

The home side has managed only one win in 2013, but displayed a strong defensive performance against West Brom, which had won three of its last four games to help push for a top eight finish before coming into the fixture.

A point for Stoke however has seen it climb up the table on goal difference, but the Potters are locked with four other teams on 33 points. West Brom stays eighth in the league, only two points behind seventh-placed Liverpool.

West Brom started the livelier side as it applied the pressure on the Potters in the opening minutes of the tie, with Chris Brunt forcing Asmir Begovic into an early save after James Morrison put in a through ball for the midfielder.

Despite a rocky start, Jon Walters went on to have the best chance of the first half, with his shot deflecting off Olsson before creeping inches wide of Ben Foster's goal.

The home side made the first substitution of the game, bringing on Dean Whitehead for Greg Whelan at halftime, but it was West Brom who started the second half brightly. Thomas' cross was directed to Lukaku who headed the ball towards the Stoke goal, but Begovic caught with ease.

Stoke also came close in the early phase of the second half, but Crouch and Etherington saw their chances go to waste after some resilient keeping from Foster.

Clarke's side looked dominant however, with West Brom repeatedly breaking on the right side of the pitch, with Morrison's crosses providing a challenge for Stoke to deal with, although Lukaku failed to make use of his opportunities.

Stoke came agonizingly close to the opening goal with 10 minutes to go, as Wilson's header travelled inches wide of the goal following Whitehead's corner.

Claudio Yacob very happy to be West Brom's unsung hero - expressandstar.com

Claudio Yacob today insisted he is happy to be Albion's unsung hero as the Baggies aim for another record-breaking Premier League season.

The Hawthorns favourite is pleased to let high-profile team-mates take the limelight as the Baggies target another top-half finish.

Argentina international Yacob has become a popular figure with supporters since moving to England last summer on a free transfer from Racing Club in Buenos Aires.

And the midfielder, who has cut an impressive figure in a defensive role, said: "I don't catch the attention like players such as (Romelu) Lukaku and (Shane) Long.

"I don't score goals because that's not my role – but I think my function is very important to help the team achieve their overall goal. Scoring is the aim of the match but it's not the most important thing.

Albion's hopes of reaching Europe faded when the FA Cup semi-final draw meant only a fifth-place finish would take them into the Europa League.

But they remain in course to beat last season's best ever Premier League finish of 10th and their highest Premier League points total of 47.

And Yacob, who has two full international caps, revealed he is becoming more comfortable in the Albion squad after spending the season learning to speak English.

Claudio Yacob today insisted he is happy to be Albion's unsung hero as the Baggies aim for another record-breaking Premier League season.

West Brom defender Billy Jones today urged the Baggies to sign up his right-back rival Steven Reid for another season.

West Brom boss Steve Clarke still hopes summer signing Markus Rosenberg can make an impact this season after revealing the Sweden international's frustrations.

West Brom captain Chris Brunt is desperate to make it 13th time lucky for Northern Ireland and deliver a long overdue victory at Windsor Park.

Kev's, Sy's And Trbhoo's song, spooky again????? we were posting the same thought at the same time, I bera not be turning into Trbhoo else Max will throw me Angle Cake back at me.

oh come on.- not even a small smile??...we've sung worse over the years....and just the thought of us all hand clapping queen style might lead to a new fancey dress theme for the end of the season....wonder if there is a world record for how many queen impersonaters in a footall ground??

Unsung hero he may be but I think we all know how important he is to the team. We struggled when he was out injured because he is a genuine class player who is not easilly replaced. He obviously likes us as much as we like him and he seems to be a typical, hard working, honest, Albion type of player. Lets hope we can keep him for many years to come, as that would mean that we continue to develop into a club worthy of respect and recognition in The Premier League.

Our small steps towards sustainable Premiership status will bring us ever greater rewards in the future, but no doubt over the summer, we will have the usual calls for big signings and moans about our "tight fisted" chairman. Well, if tight fistedness can bring us more players like Claudio, I say, long may it continue.

You are my favourite player Claudio. I love watching the way you pinch the ball off opposing players and your distribution is first class.. I hope you stay with us and next year we can go for a Champions league spot...COYB

Just goes to show money can't buy you everything. What an immense player he is, just hope the big boys don't come knocking on our door. In saying that we are the big boys.

Thing is, if massive clubs like Wolves, Barcelona, etc... come sniffing it will hard for him to turn down the opportunity of a lifetime plying his trade in the Nou Camp or Molineux. He could possibly be winning a League 1 championship medal next season, whats he gonna win staying with us?

This blokes been a brilliant signing! Those years of being a soft touch defensively have disapeared and a lot of the credit should go to players like Yacob and G Mac who havent cost us a penny transfer fee wise! keep it up boys! COYB

Claudio Yacob what a fantastic player he is! We MUST keep him, I suggest that it would be a good idea to offer him the reward of a long contract for all his efforts this season, this would keep him at the Hawthorns. Albion play much better when he is in the team he is a class act! Didn't we miss him when he was injured?

Can anyone tell me the words to the song and the tune that they sing about him I have not heard it yet? My Grandson who is a season ticket holder loves all the Albion songs and he will love to hear a new one, maybe they will sing it at the next home game?

Well when Albion looked like they were about to sign Claudio, I found video footage of him playing in Argentina, I then predicted he'd be a 'special' player for us.

The only difference is that games over there appear to be a bit 'gung-ho', often end to end stuff, so he was making driving runs through the centre, a la Bryan Robson, but over here he's used much more defensively, to break up the opposition attacks.Still a quality player.

The fans love you Claudio. We hope you spend many years wearing our famous striped shirt. The futures bright,it's blue and white.Boing Boing.

Claudio is our "Ball Snatcher", which is as important a job as scoring a goal, putting in a super cross, heading away a dangerous high ball, going past a player, plus. Long may he do our ball winning. Chant: Yacob-Yacob rob-rob-rob, repeat.

As we're talking about a 'quality' Baggies player, and it's a 'game-free' weekend, maybe we could amuse ourselves a little bit-

About this time 5 years ago, Jarrod asked the guys on here to give us their all-time best, or favourite Albion team, based on the players they've seen in the famous blue and white striped shirts over the years. It's interesting, because one or two included Jonathan Greening and Robert Koren amongst their all-time greats!!

Anyway, I could probably put 25 players in mine, but you have to leave some out, so based on the impact they've had on me, mine would possibly be ( 4-4-2 )-

Ben Foster; Doug Fraser, John Wile, Ally Robertson, Derek Statham; Laurie Cunningham, Bryan Robson, Len Cantello ( obviously ), Willie Johnstone; 'Bomber' Brown, 'King' Jeff Astle.

I suppose being similar ages it's not surprising I agree with most of your picks. The only one I'd change would be Bobby Hope in for Len. It's also a close call with Cyrille, Jonas, Chippy Clark, Don Howe and believe it or not Andy Johnson but they all just fail to edge out the competition

As I say, it's a personal thing, so over 40-50 years it's hard to pick a clear first XI, there's bound to be a few difficult choices.

Chippy Clark was very underrated, always dangerous and a prolific goalscorer, Bobby Hope made the team 'tick', and Cyrille was very, very difficult to leave out.Don Howe left the season before I began watching, so did JtH's favourite, Derek Kevan. As for Andy Johnson, I've never seen anyone else run around the pitch at 100mph for 90 minutes.

clive chippy clark what a player many happy times but what about john kaye and big stan jones derek the tank kevan and many more great players

it is just a fun thing, but each of us can remember different players from different eras, it's our own personal favourites from those we've had the pleasure to watch.

I started going as a young lad in 1964, so I missed the 'greats' like Derek Kevan, Ronnie Allen, Ray Barlow, Bobby Robson, etc., but some of the other guys on here will remember them with great affection, I'm sure.

Reminds me of Martin Jol when he first joined us - good on the ball, good technically and hard as nails...... What a fantastic piece of scouting to find him and incredible that we got him on a free.

A totally class player who has only cost us his wages......arrived in a new country, has to learn a new language whilst adapting to a new team and leauge....and still put in some monster performances!! Admire both his dersire and talent as a player. And i think we all appreciate the way our club works hard behind the scenes to identify players like this in all positions.....players who cost little but give us alot.

That's the million dollar question now, can RG pick up DA's mantle as seamlessly as we all hope. The scouting network is hopefully still in place so the main thing Richard needs to do is vet the background and personality of potential signings.

Much has been made of PO's attitude of late but he's the first "bad apple" we've had for years and even then you could say that at least he earned the right by being the missing link that established us as a PL club. McAuley, Reid, Lukaku, Yacob you can run through the rest of the squad and they all have a desire and commitment to the team as well as themselves.

Although from afar it seems Claudio really is something for us to continue building with. To say after 3/4 of a season he reminds people of Jol and Brian Robson, he must be one hell of a player?

The primary goal of any team is to have its backbone solid and good! Foster, Olsen, Mulumbu, Yacob! This backbone will see us in good stead!

super player, the role he plays for west brom (any team) is my favourite role within the team. sitting in front of the back four breaking down opposition attacks and moving the ball on. one of my all time favourite prem players was claude makélélé, he perfected this role, a master at his profession. i do believe there is more to come from yacob.
