Preakness 2013 Results: Live Analysis and Twitter Reaction

The Preakness often seems to be in the shadow of the more famous Kentucky Derby, but the second jewel of thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown is often a sensational race.

Saturday's 138th Preakness features Kentucky Derby winner Orb, who will be trying to establish his greatness by winning the second of the Big Three races.

If Orb is victorious, he will have a chance to go for the Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes in early June. There has not been a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

Orb demonstrated sensational ability in the Derby, coming from near the back of the pack to defeat a 20-horse field. While there are only nine horses in the Preakness, he faces a big challenge because tactics in the 1 3/16ths mile race often determine who wins and who disappoints.

Orb will break from the rail at Pimlico—the Baltimore track that hosts the Preakness—and that could be a problem for a horse that likes to come from behind and does not want to get caught up in traffic.
