Joe Hart 6/10 Roberto Mancini ruthlessly dropped Costel Pantilimon for the England goalkeeper, who had little to do despite Wigan threatening.
Pablo Zabaleta 4 City's prime contender as player of their year spent more time defending than he would have hoped. Suffered the anguish of a red card.
Vincent Kompany 6 Blocked a McCarthy attempt well and as first half progressed was able to relax a little more. Header missed from a Silva corner.
Matija Nastasic 6 The impressive young defender, who has purred through debut season, tried his luck with one shot but it dribbled along the turf. Stood up well.
Gaël Clichy 5 Had to be aware of the lively McManaman, who had the beating of the left-back most times he took the ball at him. Did little going forward.
Gareth Barry 6 The quiet man of the City side was sharp in the tackle and popped up in the area to take aim at Robles but could not score.
Yaya Touré 5 Looked to get on the ball early on. Drew first save from Robles but his ability to surge was not in evidence. Improved after break.
Samir Nasri 7 Had one run down the left as match unfolded and continued his late-season form with a blistering shot that warmed Robles's fingers.
David Silva 6 Floated around as only the Spaniard can. What appeared to be a shot after 19 minutes might have been a cleverly disguised pass to Agüero, but disappointed.
Carlos Tevez 6 Grew into the contest, and his running and awareness of space caused problems. Taken off for Rodwell for some reason.
Sergio Agüero 5 Drew a free-kick in the opening stages but as Wigan enjoyed a first-half resurgence the striker was lost to the contest.
Joel Robles 8 Produced a brilliant save from Tevez just before half-hour as he dived to his left. Did the same when Nasri fired at him during second half. The 29-year-old as good as escorted Ramires's drive into his net.
Emmerson Boyce 5 Captain was snappy into tackle but when Nasri, Silva and Tevez surged at him he could look sluggish. Battled valiantly all afternoon.
Paul Scharner 6 Made some cultured passes but spent more moments of opening 45 minutes trying to stem blue wave. Outpaced by Tevez in second half.
Antolín Alcaraz 6 City fans were unhappy when he baulked Agüero on edge of area but the referee saw nothing wrong. Might have got forward more.
James McArthur 6 Supported McManaman well when Wigan attacked, although he did not always have the answer to Nasri's constant probing.
James McCarthy 5 Struggled to impose himself after flitting in and out of the match before the break. Took match to City with one fine run.
Jordi Gómez 5 Overcooked a free-kick that he should have landed in the area to ask City a question. He and McCarthy did not do enough.
Roger Espinoza 7 The Honduran drew a rare foul from Silva that left him hurt, then was unlucky not to win a penalty when Zabaleta crashed into him.
Shaun Maloney 6 Playing behind Koné, fired a volley that smacked off Nastasic. Caused opposition a headache with the ball and hit bar with 15 minutes left.
Callum McManaman 9 What a performance: nearly replicated Ricky Villa's famous FA Cup goal with run and strike that forced Zabaleta into a desperate block.
Arouna Koné 6 Played a lovely ball to create a McManaman chance. He was most effective when dropping away from City defence to find and utilise space.
