Those who remember the infamous battle bat Hell in a Cell 1998 will know the actual mettle of Mick Foley. Little wonder then, that he will be inducted into Hall of Fame 2013 at Madison Square Garden on 6th April. He will have legends and a siren for company that night, as the crowd raise up storm.
Bob Backlund's fights with Billy Graham and Harley Race are legends and so was his affinity for comebacks. It is coincidental that he will be inducted in the year when Rock has made a glorious comeback. He has the privilege of being the second longest reign holder after Bruno Sammartino, who will also be inducted.
Bruno held it for 11 years in 2 stints, winning against Budgy Rogers and Stan Stasiak. He has been at loggerheads with WWE culture for long now but has finally relented to the delight of Vince McMohan, Chairman and CEO of WWE. Oldtimers will thus have a clear date with nostalgia.
The backbenchers will cheer the induction of Trish Stratus, whose hugging tops, smacking affairs and indulgence with Lita and Victoria was a cherished format in this millennium's first decade. She will be the youngest ever inductee and will elicit cat whistles.
