E. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) a' Ny leader Derek Jeter is expected to maintain a walking boot when he rejoins his teammates Thursday for the beginning of a at Yankee Stadium. Jeter discovered last Thursday that he fractured the foot for an additional time in half a year, a blow to a New York team already reeling from accidents and one that raises long-term questions concerning the potential of a shortstop who'll be 39 when he returns. Director Joe Girardi mentioned Jeter was again examined again this week by Dr. Robert Anderson, who operated on the All-Star's left foot in Charlotte, N.C., after it was broken last October in Game 1 of the ALCS. "I think he's back in the boot," Girardi said before Tuesday night's game at Tampa Bay. The Yankees think that Jeter must certanly be in a position to resume his therapy when the new split heals in about four to ten days, and can get back following the All-Star break. Nyc infielder Kevin Youkilis was out of the collection for the third straight game Tuesday. Girardi wants Youkilis, who continued finding treatment, also will miss Wednesday's line climax with the Rays.
