Regional Spotlight: Indigenous Skate Shop, Newcastle, UK

Published by Gavin on Saturday, April 20, 2013 a Comment is Left by A Formerly on this website, Iave written about the important role the local stores and organizations perform in the growth of a a' the snowboard scene. Inturn, by promoting regional stores and shopping at, snowboarders can help to subscribe to the development of these communitya With spring starting out and summertime following, Iam casting the spotlight on Native Skate Store, an example of a store thatas incorporated into the local scene a' in this case, the skateboard scene. Native has been standing firm in Newcastle since 2003, only recently passing the ten-year level. When compared with snowboarding, I skate sometimes, particularly right now. But Indigenous is definitely my alocal skate storea. My first deck was bought by me from their store in 2006 and then a 2nd, my current skateboard, around 2008/2009. Along with a couple of one other things, good stuff, like skate sneaks, DVDs (back in your day) and the leather Volcom budget Iave had for 6 years a' it still seems new. A key part of the relationship between shops and the local landscape, may it be snowboarding or skateboarding, is the sponsorship of riders/skaters. The shop helps the skater to do their thing and the skater increases the awareness and profile of the shop. Local Skate Store is fulfilling this role in Newcastle. Theyare currently sponsoring: Will Creswick, Jamie Cairns, James Coyle, Frank Rose, Dan Main, Kurt Mitchell and The Cougar. Have a look at some footage in one of these latest improvements, Will Creswick. Youare likely to own to attend YouTube to view it a itas worth it. Ill skating and great song: Indigenous went on the web back 2005. I recall being in the store when they were just getting this area of the operation going. Taking requests, loading stuff up and transport it outa You will get a notion of the shop size and design from the picture below. Skate shoes, clothes, units behind the counter. Itas all available online also, and wrapped up in a well laid out, non-offensive and an easy task to understand site. Great work. Specifically, for both staples of any skater, check always our their collection of skateboards and skate shoes. Support your neighborhood store. Like any skate shop you obtain a variety of visitors: really good skaters, people new to skateboarding, random customers buying a t-shirt. But Native is often busy with that skater-vibe a' as the look is the main local skate landscape. They sponsor regional skaters, theyave installed look appointments from the Chocolate, Girl, Flip, Cliche and Zero skate groups, in the video below skater Adam Thirtle works at Nativea This helps it be a spot that skaters go, to meet up, to the gear they require, to hold out and to see whatas going on. Itas a part of the Newcastle skate community. It matters. Iam gonna finish this off with another local skate video, Pigs in Wigs: http://youtu.be/3BKI3A_yjAk.
