A mother-of-two from West Bromwich has admitted fraudulently declaring benefits worth more than A30,000. Mandeep Purewal, aged 33, had been receiving income support and council tax benefit on the cornerstone of her being a single mother and not working. Purewal, of Livingstone Road in West Bromwich, also admitted three charges of earning a statement regarding her condition in October and November of 2006 and June 2007. Purewalas protection solicitor Mr Andrew Choudhary mentioned his client had paid very nearly A500 straight back because she had been found. He added: aHer man has efficiently deserted his family and only comes back for the money. Over the years she has had to fend for herself. She was told by magistrates she could possibly be facing a jail sentence. She will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court for sentencing on April 26 at 2pm. She was bailed unconditionally until then.
