A fantastic purpose by Demba Ba and a late rise by Chelsea wasn't enough to overturn Manchester City's early two-goal lead. After they held off a late rise from Chelsea Birmingham City are headed to the FA Cup final. The Citizens were the higher side in the initial half and went up 2-0 early in the second half, but attempted to lay on their guide next. Chelsea hauled one target straight back, but City surely could resist a late barrage from Rafa Benitez's part to get 2-1 and move ahead to meet up Wigan in May. Minutes were taken 20 by it for Chelsea to come in to the sport at all, as City completely dominated the beginning period. Petr Cech was pushed in to action quite early and made a brilliant save in the minute on a by Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian forward had yet another strong opportunity in the minute, but Branislav Ivanovic developed a fantastic block. Eden Hazard had Chelsea's first possibility of the sport in the 23rd moment, carrying out a free end, when his volley was cleared off the point by Vincent Kompany. Chelsea played far better from the period before end of the match, but transpired 12 minutes later in significantly unfortunate fashion. City's first goal was won by Samir Nasri, although the opportunity would have been wasted if it wasn't for a very fortunate bounce. Yaya Toure began the move with a ball and a great run forward in to it was touched by the center of the pitch for Aguero, who to Nasri. Instead of shooting on objective, Nasri tried to play the ball out wide. Luckily for him, it deflected back into his path and he made an improved choice together with his second option, finishing past Cech. The final minutes of the half saw City create two more good chances, although they didn't capitalize on both of these. A bouncing ball was slapped by cech away from Aguero in the moment, though it only went so far as Milner. He had the target at his mercy, but rather hit the ball into Aguero, who was simply standing within an offside position. An even better chance was wasted by milner -- a four-on-one table -- in first half stoppage time. With lots of teammates to pick out, he instead entered the ball right at Cech. A great punch was not made by the Chelsea keeper and the ball fell to Kompany, but his shot went wide. Less than two minutes into the 2nd half, City doubled their guide and ultimately capitalized on another chance. The chance was set up by gareth Barry, lobbing a diagonal ball to the box from the right flank. Aguero made a good function to split up Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta, finding on the conclusion of the ball and lobbing a over a cement-shoed Cech. Chelsea went along to a far more attacking selection only after the hour draw, adding Fernando Torres, and they pulled an objective right back very shortly after he came on. Demba Ba was the scorer, finishing off a lengthy ball from David Luiz by having an absolutely amazing attack. Following the ball moved in the penalty spot, he made a sensational turn and struck an unstoppable scissored half-volley to the far post, offering a shot to Chelsea at a comeback. Despite numerous excellent odds, their equalizer never was never found by Chelsea. Juan Mata had a charge scream in the 69th moment after the ball fell to him at the end of a counter, but Costel Pantilimon got all of the ball and none of the Spaniard when he transpired to claim. Just one second later, Pantilimon was crossed for Ba, who directed his shot right at the City owner and called in to action again after Hazard beat Gael Clichy at the endline. In the minute, Chris Foy failed to place a bit of foul play by Aguero on Luiz. As the two were fighting for the ball, Aguero devoted a fairly harmless foul while attempting to get the ball, then inexplicably jumped up and lunged in to Luiz with both feet. Neither Foy or his colleagues discovered Aguero's offense, and it went unpunished. Torres had a punishment scream in the ultimate minute of normal time for what looked like a shirt whip by Kompany, but Foy waved play on. In the final minute of stoppage time, Hazard hit a over the bar from range, wasting Chelsea's last opportunity to catch an equalizer as City hung on for a berth in the FA Cup final.
