West Brom instructor Steve Clarke plays down Chelsea association - Football.co.uk

West Brom head coach Steve Clarke contends it's too early to start out offering him as an successor to interim Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez come july 1st. But Clarke, who spent almost 20 years at Stamford Bridge as player and coach, concedes it is his ambition to handle 'a huge club' at some level of his career. Clarke said: "I believe it is too soon to start out connecting me with Chelsea. There are plenty of administrators that are out there who have an improved case than me. Wherever I am on the bookmakers list is an excellent sign and I am sure I'm perhaps not in the list at 50-1 even!" He added: "Listen, you have hit me with an issue that's come out of left field because I've not considered it. I am not even per year into the job here. So far it's been a great period and I've maybe not looked anywhere beyond that. "If you are asking me basically wish to manage a high group in the foreseeable future? Needless to say I do. You shouldn't maintain the overall game if you do not have that goal to better and further yourself then. But it is not for now. "The dream for me personally is we get another three points and play in addition to we can and visit Chelsea. "I cannot look so far forward. It is maybe not my character. You men ought to know that by now." Clarke went on: "The reference to Chelsea is expected. I can't do something in regards to the relationship. "Chelsea is just a large element of me, I spent two decades there out of not exactly 50 in my own life. "It is really a good club, good participants, good team, always difficult for awards and beyond that I actually do not see anything else."
