Current interim Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez this week launched a stinging attack on the club's board and fans in a remarkable post-match rant, and after confirming he will leave Chelsea at the end of the season, the search is on to find his successor.
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is the bookmakers' favourite to be Chelsea's next manager, but Zola has admitted he would be keen on returning to Stamford Bridge at some point in the future.
When asked if Chelsea had tried to bring him into their coaching set-up, he added: "There has always been an interest from them. We didn't work it out, but we have a high respect and appreciation for each other."
