John Ashworth today left West Brom ahead of schedule following the Baggies consented to let him join the Football Association on Monday. His nine-year stint was ended by ashworth at The Hawthorns four weeks early, while he will continue steadily to benefit the club 1 day a week as a guide before the summer. The 41-year-old begins the FAas director of elite development work a few weeks after spending four and a years as Baggies sporting and technical director. Ashworth, who joined Albion as an academy coach in 2004, have been due to leave in the summer after serving a notice period but has recently done the handover to successor Richard Garlick. Chairman Jeremy Peace said: aDan spent some time working tirelessly for this soccer team for the past nine years and leaves with your best wishes. aHe has remained totally focused on his club duties since it was reported last September he'd be making, for which I'd want to thank him. The handover with Richard has gone quite well, which has enabled us to agree to an earlier departure day with the FA for Dan, and we now enjoy Richard building on the solid foundations laid by Dan.a Ashworthas appointment was announced by the FA in September and he'll use up the part at St Georgeas Park that was left by Gareth Southgate. The former Cambridge childhood chief has overseen the academy, sports science and senior teaching at the Hawthorns.
